HI EVERYONE!!!
So it’s been two weeks now since I started telling you about my and my wife’s journey into working out and getting healthy. As you can see on our Health and Lifestyle page we have continue to add products and snacks we are happy with and we feel healthy with.
Currently Vesna and I have worked out on average about 5-6 days a week since we started our challenge. Since I started earlier in January 2024, I can report a bit on my progress. My waist has seen a shrinking slightly and I have lost about 2 inches around my belly.
Clothes are starting to feel better and on me and I am starting to notice progress in the mirror. I also feel a lot better after I work out at 5AM to 6:30 and while some days my effective workout is only 60-70 mins the moderate intensity allows me to feel more energized than tired and spent.
So far I have lost 11.5 Lbs
The secret I have realized is to workout in comfortable clothes, keep warm, drink an electrolyte drink (sugar free or low in sugar), plus maybe any additional hydration as needed. You can take a look at the ones we love on the Health and Lifestyle page at honestves.com.
I wanted to tell you it is very important to wear comfortable shoes during your workout. I have high Arches and I need shoes that work for me. Vesna has Flat feet and she has to wear shoes more geared to her needs. Last year I had Plantar in my left foot and I lost months of working out and movement. Be careful, don’t be cheap with your shoes. As we get older proper foot wear is very important. Here is some of our favorite brands with links:

As far as our outfits I wear comfortable shorts, good socks, a t-shirt and my favorite team based hoodie ….makes me feel closer to my favorite NFL team – The New England Patriots.

I like to keep warm and sweat as much as I can during my workout. Vesna on the other side likes to be more breezy , she is usually in a fitness bra and leggings and she loves her colorful socks .

One of the tips I would like you to consider in working out whether in your home or at the gym, – DON’T OVER DO IT – by this I mean be consistent , moderate intensity is best at the start so you do not sustain injury or massive fatigue thus turning you off from the process and keep varying your exercises each day thus keeping your body guessing and away from the dreaded plateau. I typically like to do 20 mins cardio(run fast walk), 5-7 weight or strength exercises (3sets and 10 reps) with 30 sec breaks in between sets/exercises, followed by another 15-20 mins of cardio like an elliptical or Bike.
Lastly, I suggest you grab a pair of air pods and music/streaming show/audio book to keep your mind of the tired voice in your head. It makes the time fly by and could help in your motivation and mindfulness.
Just remember if you miss a day its OK, try not to miss two. Also if you workout in the morning it will be better than trying to find time during the day. You will also lose more weight and have a more positive effect on your health. But whatever works best for you.
